If the engine isnt built yet, then get what ever cam you want. If it is, you will still need to check for clearances.

well, clearance issues can arise depending on how the 383 is built. Are you using a kit that includes clearanced rods? I'm running a 264 megacam in my 383 and it seems pretty nice. That appears to be a roller cam that you posted. Do you have all the roller equipment? There's other cams too, you might get a list of the stuff that's going in and on the engine (exhaust, compression ratio, rocker ratio, roller vs. flat tappet) and then call some cam companies and tell them the intended application, they should give you something close.

yeah its a roller  block ..............my thing is that i just want a real torquey engine ........i can get this out of a 355 with vortec heads .. but being that the engine is apart i was gonna build a 383 because i know they are good for lots of  torque .......its just a lot small details with a 383 .......little frustrating

I have an RV cam in my 383 and love taking advantage of the lower rpm torque this puppy puts out w/ my 1.6 rockers...

Advertised Duration is 280 Duration @.050" 214 .295" cam lift X 1.6 = .472" Valve lift
Ground on a 110 Lobe center.
