In other news I got my transfer case back in. With that being said, I am hoping and praying that I will be okay using the factory replacement throwout bearing that came with my clutch kit. But the flywheel I got offsets the clutch back .400" (because the SBC crank sits .400" out farther than the 5.3's)....so hopefully I don't have to pull the dang tranny and tcase to change that out for a different one...

Your crossmember hangs from the bottom of the rails??!! Why did you mount it like that?

That was an accident and I've since fixed it. That's the way it was when I pulled the drivetrain. Guys put the spacers on the bottom of the frame to push the crossmember down, which in turn helps the rear driveshaft angle. Buddy of mine pointed out that it was wrong so I fixed it with the spacers on top of the frame rail

Man I need to update this! Speed Engineering headers are in and fit great! Just had to grind a tab off my bellhousing. Plugs and wires are in, working on wiring now. I made a battery box/ECM holder too. Will be getting an Optima Red-Top battery too since they're an AGM battery which means I won't have to worry about corrosion from any vapors.

Still need to get my clutch setup, hopefully this weekend. Then finish the wiring, put the accessories on the motor and then fluids and start up time!

It lives!!

Only things left to do in order to drive it are put gear oil in the rear end, get an LS3 belt tensioner, and put the front end back together

Man I'm really digging this build! I'm doing an almost identical power train and was wondering what flywheel/ clutch configuration you went with? That's about all I'm lacking to have it ready to stab.

Thanks, this truck has already finished and has left my hands but I went with:

Sachs NFW1050 flywheel
LUK-04-902 clutch kit
GM 12557583 pilot bearing

That's too bad. Thanks for the quick reply. Did you have to make any changes to accommodate the .400 difference? Im new to the forum so Im still learning the ropes.

The NFW1050 is a special flywheel .400" thicker to combat that exact problem, well worth the money and not badly priced honestly

Awesome. This may be a dumb question but for this clutch configuration were you set up manual or hydraulic?

I had my hydraulic setup custom built by The Syndicate Chop Shop on Facebook. Got my master, slave, hydraulic line, and custom pedal for $350, which is cheaper than finding a factory hydro system unfortunately
