Help replacing tailgate post
« on: June 19, 2017, 10:26:10 AM »
I have some reasonably rotten metal behind my taillights and most of it is the post and not the body. I have never replaced a post so is it possible to replace it without cutting the corner of the bed off? Since mine is so rusted out I can't figure out how it is supposed to look and pictures online are useless

It's difficult to know just how much you don't know until you know it.
In other words... if people learn by making mistakes, by now I should know just about everything!!!

My 85 k10 has the same issue and I'm not sure if it can be done without cutting the bed somewhere to get it in. I'd be interested in hearing what others have done .

I think I'm going to  rebuild the lower section of the post  instead of try and replace the entire thing since the top half isn't rusted. I can't post pictures or else I'd share my repair
