has anyone put a aluminum pulley on this set up with a keyed power steering pump .i know they came with press fit but i bought a chrome keyway pump .
-
im using stock serpentine brackets from a 1995 truck .
-
the problem is the aluminum pulley has a nipple on the front like a press on pulley has ,so it does not leave room for the nut .i had v belt pulley like this but it had the nipple on the backside .(see pics) im thinking of cutting the nipple off and moving it to the back of the pulley .however i dont know if this will weaken the pulley
-
heres a better view of problem

Pulley style needs to match the pump.
-
it does this is a keyed pulley and a keyed pump

Contact the manufacturer before you modify the pulley. Because of the off-center leverage applied by the belt, cutting the broach off the pulley may not leave enough support for the pulley to ride square on the shaft. And from the images you posted, it looks like turning the pulley around will cause too much offset.

yeah thats correct one guy said weld it back on the backside at the machine shop and put a thin washer on front

is it possible to just switch the housinsings .i mean put a press fit pump in my keyway housing and use a press fit pulley from summit or billet spec
