Can I do this?
« on: November 25, 2002, 07:59:00 AM »
A friend is parting an '85 Blazer.  It's got a 6.2 diesel and 700R4/208.  I want the trans/t-case to replace the 350/203 combo in my truck.  Does the 6.2 have a specific bell-housing or is it the same as a SBC?  I don't want to go through the hassel of yanking all of this crap out, outside in the cold, if it's not gonna fit.

Thanks for the help!

Roy K.

As far as I'm aware, there were never any variations on the 700R4 (except for an input shaft change in 1982).  You may have some mounting issues, but the tranny should bolt to your engine just fine.  A quick measure of the distance between bell housing bolts couldn't hurt, though.

Even on the 6.2?  Or are you thinking of the 350 diesel of the late 70's?

But there is a difference between a 2WD and 4WD 700R4.
