Working on a custom low-profile light bar - Eric85K10 inside
« on: January 21, 2003, 11:58:00 PM »
I took 3 pics tonight but it was by the light of the garage and then overexposing them with software so they're not the best.  I'll try to take some better ones Weds but I've gotta go pick up my 14-bolt so I might not get a chance until Thurs.

Right now everything's made of 1x4 and 2x2.  The end product would be 1½" square tubing welded on to a piece of 1/8" right angle that extends the full length of the tool box.  The inside of the tubing is about 1/2" away from the side of the box lid.  The taper in the middle of the bar still allows the tool box lid to be opened fully.  The two end on the bedrail rest on the outside edge of the bed right on top of the bulkhead.  Guess that's it for now...

Looks like a good start. One thing I like about the bed rails on the rack i have is that my toolbox sits a little higher so I have more room under it. I have about 2 inches of space for my toolbox lid to open up. the only thing I want is the sides to curve to the shape of the cab, but that good be tuff.

The complimentary angle like I have in the sample is probably as close as we'll get having to work around the tool box.  If the box wasn't there we could make it just one angle, from the bed to the cab.
