early '90's 60/40 split
« on: April 30, 2008, 11:15:05 PM »
Anybody here swap a 60/40 split bench from a early-mid '90's chevy into a 73-87? the new trucks have a drop frame under the seats were ours don't. I was just wondering if it was as simple as drilling some new holes and mounting the new seat onto the old frame or if there is some fabrication work involved? Thanks guys!

Most likely will need some sort of modification, but I have seen it done.

i just put a 93 model bench not a 60/40and had to use my 82 tracks because the 90s model sit alot higher also hade to use a 1 inch spacer under the front bolts if not the seat leans down feels like you are going to slide into the floor

Looks Great Gary 8), and Thanks for Bringing this up 85Shorty :)  I have been wanting to do a Later Style Bench/Split Buckets since I got my truck, not only to give it a center armrest, but also some Headrests as well(Hey I'm 6'4" and I don't like slamming my head against the glass ;))...

I love the seats in my 06 tahoe. I'd like to do those in my 76 K10.  It may take more work than I bargain for though.

the seat covers on the newer seats are glued to the foam so you cant jus get a factory cover to re-cover them, a factory cover also comes wit new foam and coast over 700 dollars i waited on the upholstery shop for 8 weeks to squeeze me in and it took three days to hand make and stitch every piece of that cover then he stitched and glued it on, he guranteed it for as long as i have my truck ,he does alot of show cars and has a very good reputation and was worth the wait only charged me 325 but said the next one would be 425 check with your local shops because alot of shops wont touch these seats just something to consider before you buy one

We sell covers for those 88-96 seats.  they shouldn't be glued on.

It hasn't migrated to the catalog yet.  I am working on it though.  You can see EVERYTHING upholstery wise I sell and stuff I can get here: http://acmeautoheadlining.com/gallery/main.php

I attached a pic of the armrest version as it isn't shown.
