Speedometer Cable length

I need to replace the speedometer cable on my 82 GMC K1500. It has cruise control and I only have to replace the lower cable, the one from the transducer to the transfer case.

Does anyone know how long it is or where I can find that information, I would like to get one ready to go. Thanks for any replies.

I am looking for the cable with the fittings in place, but thanks, its about 75" long.

Hey Irish_Alley,

They only had 83" with the fittings so that's what I got, but now it looks like the trouble is with the cruise control transducer. I connected the cable at the transducer and it doesn't spin...isn't that how it always goes.

and the Cruise Control Transducer is $100...bummer, the cable was only $12...looks like I will bypass the transducer for now.

The previous owner threw out the transducer in my truck, so i got one at the junk yard.  i dont need the cruise, just wanted my speedo to work again.

I don't care for cruise, and my transducer was bad, so I went to O'reillys and bought the cable for my pickup but specified a model without cruise control. I got the longest of the choices and ran it directly from the t-case to the speedometer.

that's what I'm leaning towards, were you able to reach under the dash or did you have to take the instrument panel off to get to the back of the speedometer?

You have to remove the instrument panel. Disconnect the cable from the transducer first.

Is this the right length cable and fittings? or there is one that's 80 inches, CA-3001.

100" sounds about right, you're looking for the longest one available if bypassing the transducer.

and are those fittings correct, there is only one end with the hose type fitting that goes into the trannsmission, the other end doesn't seem to have that.
