Thumpers are all about lope, not so much on the performance side of things. Why have a cam that sounds good, but runs like a dog? Go with a nice cam for performance, and take the lope you get with it. You'll be happier in the long run. My little ole 262 grind XE from Comp lopes fairly good for what it is, and will actually go when I jab on the long skinny pedal.

Call Comp Cam's tech line, give them your spec's, and tell them what you want the cam to do, and they'll tell you exactly what they have that will do the job. Great resource, and good guys that know their business. Once you see the spec's on the cam(s) they recommend, then start looking at the other manufacturers out there for something in the same range.
There are two tools needed, duct tape and WD40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD 40.

I have a Comp Cams High Energy # 12-206-2  its a .440 lift 260 dur and it runs great. Its power range is 1200-5200. I really like the cam, but its on a stock engine so I dont know if it will work for you. Heres the rest of its specs  Comp Cams High Energy #12-206-2

the guy at comp cams said ,"i  think that the mutha thumpr is a great fit for you.  With the O.E. roller, I would look at part number 08-601-8.  The specs are duration @ .050 235/249 lift is .522/.509 with a 107 LSA.  The cost of the cam is $297.78 and I can cover shipping to the lower 48 states……  The roller will make a little more power for you and is more stable in the valve train…"..but is the .522 lift to close to my springs max lift rating ?i think the custom grind cam i have is faily close to the comps cam xe262 this one was recomended for my 355 .i also read that smaller cams do well in larger cid motors .
