I did not wait in line and I also do not generally go to the movies but there was no way I waiting to see this. You can buy tickets in advance and pick your seats like you would do on an airplane for the imax theaters. I saw it in imax 3D which I was skeptical about because the last 3D movie I saw was Jaws 3D LOL but I was pleasantly surprised. the screen was huge, the sounds was incredible and the 3D wasn't cheesy at all.

and if you liked the originals you must go see this. Get a seat in the back of theater if you don't like people behind you, you'll forget you're even in a theater. There are small nuances as in anything that you might not like but overall I think most will thoroughly appreciate this. My woman couldn't have cared less about going and when she left she admitted she loved it, she cried and said "I feel like a different person now" lol

Why, yes Vile, i am watching the new star wars movie. Actually i just watched it with my son. I thought it was awesome. The original cast, the bad guys (the first order), even a glimpse of vadar and the "dark side" theme music. And of course, skywalker, i had no idea about the ending. I avoided all news about the movie, and it was worth it. I didnt even know about Solo.
I do have one question, why and how did that girl have the "the force" with her?

I just watched the new movie as well, I speculate it is Luke's daughter, age is about right, she seems younger then Hans son, plus when she found Luke saber, the flash back sort of had her envisioning when her parents left, which could be when Luke fled after kylo turned dark.Yeah i'll have to watch it a few more times and pick up those tid-bits you miss when watching the first time.

From the linked article (and other's I've read), it seems that retaining the rights for licensing and merchandising was akin to being able to print money.
Same reason a 2018 chevy truck wont be a classic or collectable 40 years from now. The era is gone.
I believe time will tell - don't underestimate the power of nostalgia. Think of those just starting to drive today and have a longing for a 2018 Chevy but can't afford one.

It's a tough thing to have had the originals in your life, then the totally disrespected originals, then the prequels which you either love or hate no in between, and now the forward direction. Definitely not what I was expecting. I could nit pick it for sure but I found the Mary Poppins scene to be so incredibly silly I said to myself that this scene must have been post-mortem CGI or once Carrie Fisher saw it herself she dropped dead.
Solo? It's a spin off cash grab by disney that has been destined to be a train wreck from it's inception. You would have to put a gun to my head to make me pay to see that one. There's only one Han Solo. I'm happy they are giving us something we've been missing since what 1984? So I won't be a hater on where they are taking it, at least not at the moment.

The whole snoke thing was a joke, his character was flawed form the beginning but instead of rectifying it and making something out of it they made a cgi freddy crougar in a 70's gold dress. He's so powerful he can fling you around with a thought but he cuts in half like a hot knife through butter. Rey holds the light saber like a wiffle ball bat but is suddenly so powerful she can crush mountains with a thought and not because of her lineage but just because. Luke was so courageous he defenselessly confronted Vader and the Emperor on his own virtually destroying the Empire because he was so courageous but now he's a chicken hermit who went emo? There was this whole map to Luke Skywalker thing like he was their secret weapon and something big was going to happen but they basically ruined his legacy and the whole reveal to Luke. Very pc throughout, the finn and rey thing dissolved so that he could hook up with the asian girl? The slow speed chase? lol Phasma's eye is revealed, oooh that was suspenseful. The purple haired admiral putting the hero in his place. The majority of it was a let down and mediocre at best and I could pick it apart all day long but what's the point? All I see are life long fans tearing it apart and fanboys defending it with their life. It's worse than trump vs hilary. I'm definitely not going to see it a second time, maybe I'll just download it and get some of my money back ;D

Yeah, it can't possibly be worse than the last one! Was the trailer the same as the one you posted the link to or was it a newer one?
I believe it was a bit different, it showed a lot more fighting and stuff, longer. Plus the movie theater effects and all,,,kinda puts you in the mood. Maybe it was the evil emperor laughing at the end. Just have a gut feeling we'll be impressed. Clinging on to high hopes...

Lucas destroyed Star Wars with the special editions and then those prequels. Disney is Corporate Star Wars. It will NEVER be the same.
