Some cool old cars
« on: August 20, 2020, 02:27:58 PM »
I stopped by a buddy of mines shop today to drop off a piece I’d machined for him. Donnie does picture car work for the movies, but has been subsidizing himself during the pandemic with any paying car work. There’s always cool stuff there, in addition to the piles of Crown Victoria’s and Chargers done up to look like cop cars from everywhere, real and fictional.

I’ll start with a square body so I don’t get yelled at:

The body is PERFECT!!! From the outside it’ll look mostly stock, I believe it’s lowered a bit. Under the hood is an LS1... I’m not sure of the transmission and they’ve completely rewired the whole truck. Should be a nice ride when they’re done.

Older K/10:

From what you could tell this one was bone-stock.

I don’t know WHY???, but 2020 also seems to be the year of the Land Rover... Donnie has this series one, and another friend is restoring a Defender 90 and yet another friend has three Defender 110’s that are gonna be RADICAL!
The 110’s my other buddy is building will also likely be completely un-driveable. One has an LS7 and one has a Scott Morris (SME) that guarantees 1200!!! horsepower, IF they can figure out how to get the required 2 1/4” primaries, 4” exhaust and inter cooler plumbing into the chassis.
Here’s the 90 Donnie is working on:

I do like the pickup body, though I doubt I would fit in it.

A 37(?) Chevy:

Donnie says the guy wanted to “rat-rod” it. It’s all original and complete. Not a car to cut up. He’s standing down while the guy decides what he’s gonna do.

This “goat” is waiting it’s turn:

From the front end camber I’m guessing it’s also waiting on an engine...

I’m not a Mopar guy... Charger?!?:

Waiting for the owner to pick it up.

And then this thing:

I’m not entirely sure WHAT it is... gun to my head I’d guess it’s one of the Carroll Shelby-Dodge collaborations of the late 80’s, but I really don’t know. Strange for sure.

Anyhow, it was a fun little field trip and I figured I’d share the highlights.

Be safe and stay healthy

Mopars aren’t the cars I can play that game with. And I’m okay with that.

Super cool!
But I think that red rover is a Series 2 88 not a Defender 90 unless it’s had a chassis swap? In respect fitting in it, there’s nothing more uncomfortable than riding in a leaf sprung Land Rover on the road whether you fit or not!!
