49 Ford with a flathead 8. My first car was a 66 Plymouth Sport Fury III with a 318.

Although i'm not what you would call a F*%d guy I love the sound of a flat V8.... That Fury is an awesome car! always thought they looked clean.

Good stuff!  I miss my old truck sometimes even though the one I have now is 85% better. 8)

My dad’s 68 Impala, felt like a boat, had a lot of bondo, but those were the good old days.

Astonishing fact i realized last night:

i have NEVER driven a big block in a car.  This includes buick/pontiac/olds engines larger than 400 CID.

The only big block i have ever driven was in a medium duty u-haul truck and it was only 366 cid.

i have NEVER driven an engine larger than 366 CID!

This may be why i feel a 4.3 v-6 is "adequate" for a 1/2 truck......?

Biggest I ever drove in a car was a 73 caprice with a 400sb...  no big blocks.

Only big block Ive ever driven was a 330ci or so in a 1970 ford f700.

Never thought about it but now I feel like I been missing out.   ;)

My dad’s 68 Impala, felt like a boat, had a lot of bondo, but those were the good old days.

Made me remember a story my mom n dad told me.  When I was 3 or so Mom n dad were washing their 64 impala ss and put me in it so they could get the washing done.  well I pulled the gear lever out of park and it rolled down the driveway and into the neighbors yard.  They slowed it down they said grabbing and pulling so I didn't hit his house.  It didn't have a foot brake interlock and a console shifter.  They never left me in the impala or old mustang again.  They would let me sit in the old white truck though.  77 c10 auto.  It had a shift lock.  Maybe thats why I loved that truck so much!  8)

My brother did the same thing, pulled the gear shifter on my parents '62 Olds Dynamic 88. Rolled 10 feet into our neighbors car, slight crunch, could have been much worse. He was 3.

On big blocks, my first truck was a '57 Apache with a 235 inline 6 cylinder. Slooooow poke. Max torque at 2000 RPM.

Next ride, '69 Chevy Caprice, 2 door, Landau top, concealed headlights, 396 BB, I bought for 300 in '78. Drove it cross country.

Loved that car... :'(

And let me add, I also let my 79 Z28 roll down my folks driveway into the neighbors yard. Wiped out some bushes, which I had to replace. I didn’t actually “let” it roll....

Oh, and 78 chevyrado, the 64 Impala SS is one of my all time favorites!

It was a pretty car.  I didn;t let it roll either, kinda just happened.  Well it gave the old timers something to talk about for the next 40 years... ;D
