All viscositys are $22.88 for "basic."

All viscosity "extended" is $24.97

Both are 5 quart jugs.

Viscosity is like  10-15w, 15-20w, 20-50w. Is that relevant to synthetic?

Is there a viscosity rating on Mobil 1?

Maybe i'm not understanding the question?    i think synthetic is a "type" of oil not a thickness?   Thus, synthetic comes in many viscocities.   5w-30, 10w-30, 10w-40 etc.

Walmart's prices on Mobile 1 are hard to beat. I've been running extended drains (15k each oil change) on several cars for years using their extended synthetic. I put about 65k on my Geo doing that and the little car runs great still with 180k on it and climbing. I recently switched it over to Amsoil to join the Amsoil extended drains I have been doing since about the year 2000 on most of my vehicles.

I have 40k on my rebuilt Camaro 305. It's running Amsoil and I have NEVER changed the oil on it. I ran a short break in with Valvoline, then put the Amsoil in and havent EVER changed it. I check the oil level every few thousand miles, and every few years throw a new filter on just for the heck of it. I'm hoping it will just blow up so I can put in a 350,  but I'm afraid it's just gonna run forever on that oil. Still runs exactly the same as day I rebuilt it and no sludge buildup.

But for an affordable good oil or extended drain stuff you can easily buy local, you just can't beat the Mobil1 from Walmart.

You don't like your 305 do you?

My flat-tappet 454s (in my '86 K30s) run exclusively on Mobil 1 "Euro Formula".  The zinc and phosphorus levels are pretty darn high.  The only downside is that the zero-weight formula will, pretty quickly, point-out any leaks in the system.

As far as full syn and extended oil changes, I found-out that our largest local cab company changes the oil in their vehicles every 25K miles, regardless of hours.
I spent most of my money on Jack Daniel's, Copenhagen, pocket knives, and 4X4 trucks.  The rest I just wasted.

Synthetic means it's not made from petroleum. I've never used it so I guess that's why I am uninformed about it's viscosity rating, or if it has such.

i think i get what you're trying to get at here and what the question is.  Well, i think synthetic  does flow better than conventional.   i don't have time to research now though.   As of right now, i'm going with synthetic and conventional viscosity ratings are about the same if not very same or identical.  That's my opinion for now.

5 quart jug mobil 1 synthetic 5W-30 STILL on sale for $22.37!

This is going on 5 years now.   Walmart has never been my "go to" store.  i prefer Sears (if they are still around) or Lowes or even Horror Freight.   But you have to hand it to 'Mart.

It's a loss leader, same price on Amazon or eBay. For the record, I'd rather spend a day in jail than go to WalMart.
