vortex engine swap

So I imagine some of you all have done a vortex 5.7 engine swap, I have done this swap with an aluminum Intake, edelbrock carb., and HEI, I was wondering if any of you were having a minor problem like me, it is really hard to get the timing set and when it's close I don't have much adjustment on the distributor like you would on a let's say 1980 model motor with the same HEI setup. Thank you all for reading.

The timing is exactly the same strategy and any SBC. Simply clock the distributor back one tooth.

Does your HEI have a melonized gear on it ?
