Suspension- 502 1974 gmc c1500
« on: June 28, 2022, 09:00:54 AM »
Hi, my name is Dan. I'm new to the site. I recently acquired a 1974 gmc c1500 shorted stepside. The truck is coming apart this fall down to a rolling chasis and rebuild from there. I would like to start ordering some parts to ensure they are here when I need them. I plan replacing all a arm bushings, springs front and rear and would like to put a 2" drop on it. My question is I have a 502 that I might put in the truck. I want to make sure the truck isn't to nosed down with no travel left to the suspension.  And input would be helpful. Thank you.

The 502 isn't any heavier than a 454, so big-block springs should be sufficient.

We need pics of the build progress BTW.  :D

Ok, thank you. The truck is new to me. I had an 85 c10 20 years ago, just getting back into it. The body is a little rough but the chasis is in really nice shape. But lots of work to do. I gotta try to figure out how to send pics.

There's a lot of work to do. Looks a lot better in the pictures than it is. But it's a good start. It's a complete truck and the chassis solid

I have only completed step 1 and 2 so far lol. I have evicted the mice and put it in the garage to keep it dry and preserved.

Nice start! great pics!

I would change the interior color scheme though, not very attractive.

Found the sticker. On driver's inside fenderwell. Is that normal for that year or did someone peel it out if the glovebox?
