Converting Non-84+ Seat to 84+ Seat

Wondering if you can convert a non-84+ front bench seat to an 84+ front bench seat just by adding new foam, cover, and seat-belt ferrules, or if the metal supports of the seat are different?

zieg85:
Trying to understand your question... Non-84 seat is exactly what year are you talking about?

I think he is asking whether pre-1984 bench seat frames and mounts are the same as (or similar enough to) 1984 and later bench seat frames and mounts, such that the earlier seats can be easily upgraded with later model cushions, upholstery, and through-cushion seat belts.

I once had a 82 C20 that I put a recovered seat from a 1973.  The seat belts for the 3 pt on the floor rubbed the side of the seat.  The actual base frames went straight back and the adjuster for the slide was on the side.  The bottom belt came through a hole in the seat foam/fabric where the older just went between the upper and lower..  Mounting is the same 73-87 regular cab.

Yes...84+ front bench seat has the holes for the seat belts to come up through the bottom. older than that and the seat belts just stick through the split between the bottom cushion and the back rest. Can you recover a pre 84 front bench seat with 84+ foam and cover and put the trim in the bottom cover for the seat belt to come through the bottom cushion? I have a pre 84 front bench seat in my '91 crew cab for some reason and the belts work between the bottom and seat back, but really the plastics aren't designed to do that. I could go looking for a 84+ seat if I need to.
