slow power windows

I am putting new weatherstrip in my doors and new window channel rubber as well.  My power windows are painfully slow but always work.  Can I just take the motor apart and clean it up and lube up the mechanism with Lubraplate and get them moving faster or do I have to replace the motors?

Lube the tracks really good.  But if the motors are old, getting new ones will help.

You can take the regulator assembly out and lay it on a piece of plywood or on the concrete floor and reattach the wires to operate it without the window weight. That will tell you if the motor is slow or not. Check the tracks for dirt and gunk too.I used a brush with kerosine and a rag to clean mine before I greased them. I needed a new motor. You might want to consider a new motor, if you go to all that trouble..

What should the tracks be lubed with?

I put lithium on one and red axle grease on the last set I pulled apart.

I have to admit I havent had my doors that far apart to see these inner tracks... If i misunderstand the lube portion, please excuse me. ... wont that lube get on the window itself? or am I not reading this right?Its completely possible that I misunderstand the mechanical function of this window channel businees as well. feel free to flame me.

There are rollers that run in the glass guide for the scissors.  They don't get near the glass per say.

I had the same problem with mine and they eventually just stopped. Cant remember what I paid for the motors but there not that bad I dont think. If you've got it that far apart I would lube the tracks up and just put new motors in to prevent future problems.

I would have to agree with that in replacing them when you have them down.  The last set I got was $29 from Autozone.

I pulled my passenger window assembly the other day finally, all my rollers were seized so instead of rolling they were dragging.  Ordered new rollers,  I am envious of the prices that you guys quote, I have to convert to Canadian dollars which adds about 25% to the price then the shipping even on small things doubles the price.
