12v swap question
« on: July 21, 2014, 08:08:13 AM »
I have a 73 K30 with carb'd 5.3L, 94 NV4500 and 208 T case. I found a couple 12vs. Just wondering what all I would need to make it go together. I think I need a dodge input shaft, and bell housing adapter. What else am I missing? Would the 208 last for a while? I know a 205 if the preferred choice but these 208s are tougher than they get credit for. It won't be some power house Cummins. Maybe play with the pump, some injectors and a turbo. The 5.3 is great but its a high revving no torque motor and I'm running 35s on a lifter truck, just doesn't work well. Thank you

the 208 will hold up as long as you dont try to do a 4wd burn out. just like anything if you abuse it it will break. the nv4500 the only bad thing i know of is something about a bolt on 4th gear. but before you buy the 12v i would look into the parts to convert the nv4500 over afaik the flywheel would be the hardest to find
