« on: November 11, 2009, 04:46:51 PM »
Thought i'd first say what a great site, and some awesome info! Well here is what i got first, 1973 3/4 4x4,4:56 gears,sm465 4 speed,350 with about 50,000 miles in it,600 cfm holley,Edelbrock performer dual plane intake, hei ignition, long tube heads, stock cam, stock heads,1.76/1.50 i think!looked um up a long time ago!Well i hope that covers everything i need to list lol, well my question here is that im looking for better power through the 2,000-4000 rpmm range! i am curious if you guys think  a good combo of heads/cam would do the trick, and if so what brands have you liked over the hears, preferably cast heads, and which size vales,1.94 or 2.02 intake's?nothing to radical for a cam,the truck is only used for cruising! Thanks Guys! If you guys search my past post you will find pics of the ol girl!

Looks like you have the basics covered to me, ignition, exhaust...
I'm running stock Vortec heads and a summit 1103 cam, however the Vortecs would require an intake change.

Double check your heads, or post up the casting #'s.  With what your describing and your goals, I'm almost thinking an Edelbrock performer cam (or similar)

Hopefully one of the HP gurus will be in shortly.

I think your heads are killing you. upgrading to the 1.94 heads or 2.02 if you can find them will help alot. I run the Comp 268H cam in most of my past small blocks and really liked them. What performance issues are you having? Slow acceleration, top speed???. You have awfully steep gears for 33's, so your cruising speed rpms will be awful.

if you plain on not reving past 4,000

stick with the 1.94/1.5.. but dont make it a deal breaker with new heads ;)
