Legal or Not Legal Exhaust
«

I just acquired a 1983 K10 from my father-in-law. It is going to have to be totally redone. It currently has a 305 and this is going to be the first thing I change out. I have a pretty hot 350 that is going to take its place. My question is about the exhaust. We live in Texas and my brother told me that being that this truck is a classic I'm not required to put cats back in the exhaust system. Is this true?
Thanks in advance,
Jeff

All you need isto meet the safety requirements. Cats aren't part of the safety check. simple stuff tires, seat belts, lights, horn no cracked windshield, etc.

Family is not an important thing. It's everything.

with that being said. "EPA" Under federal law, catalytic converters may not be removed
and replaced with "converter replacement pipes' by any person.
The 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments even prohibit private
individuals from installing "converter replacement pipes" on their
own vehicles. Anyone who installs such pipes would violate section
203(a)(3)(A) and (B) of the Clean Air Act (Act).
now with that being said if your not attracting attentions to your truck then cops prob wont bother you. but if your truck came from the factory with cats then it should always have cats
