Hello everyone i am in need of some help i have a 383 stroker with a howards 180305-08 cam 229/229@50 282/282 480/480 i understand a bigger cam will want more initial im wanting to double check as ive not had a cam this size before so im at 36 total which i have 18 initial

Yes, your baseline setting should be 36° at 3500 RPM, vacuum advance disconnected. Advance and dial in as needed from there.

Which cylinder heads, do you have a vacuum advance unit?
