New to forum Help decode build sheet old moving van
« on: June 20, 2019, 09:54:19 AM »
Hi

Need help decoding the build sheets. Getting ready to buy this old moving van to turn into a car hauler. Its parked against a fence and can't open the driver door.

Need to know what year it is.
Size of engine and horse power.
And are there any good options listed.

Thanks

you can tall most of that from the vin
http://73-87chevytrucks.com/VIN.htm

lets start with this isnt a typical truck (or maybe the glove box was switched)
the rpo sticker came off a GMC INCOMPLETE truck
WITH 16001-19500 brakes
6000 med duty truck
4x2
and a 6.0 4 bbl gas motor
the tenth digit is the year, yours appears to be an 1988

1 G D E 6 D 1 B 4 J V 525218

Based on the VIN and SPID label, the truck is a US built, 1988, incomplete C6500 medium-duty conventional cab GMC, 2-axle chassis with 16001-19500 lbs GVWR hydraulic brakes, 6.0L (366) V8 gas engine protected by an alarm/shutdown system and fueled by a governed 4bbl Holley carburetor drawing from a 50-gallon right-mounted step-tank.  The engine pushes power through a 13" Spicer clutch and Spicer CM-4054A 5-speed transmission along a 3-piece driveline to a Spicer final drive with 5.29 gears.

Welcome to the site.
Looks like Irish & BD solved the problem once again.
I have a few "incomplete" trucks myself.  Someday hopefully I'll have time to put them back together.
