Title: Front shock movement
Post by: 502Silverado on September 18, 2018, 06:19:12 PM
Hey all, I have an 87 R10 I bought in June.  Notice the front end has a creak to it and noticed that when I push down on the driver’s side of the truck the upper mount is loose and moves independently of the frame.  Anyone know what could cause this?  I’m hoping that the hole in the frame isn’t elongated where the stud goes through. Ive bought new shocks to install but don’t want to take that side off in case it needs repairing. Also, if the hole IS elongated, how is that fixed?  Any help is appreciated. This is my first C10 and I’m learning as I go. Thanks

Ive replaced my shocks due to wear. While at it i put shock brackets from offroad design on. Gives it a double shear point and helps with mounting hole wear.

Check to see if it is just loose. If it's egged out you can repair it.

Thanks for the responses. I planned on getting the shock mount braces just to be on the safe side. It’s a 2wd so no off road stresses on the suspension.
