Dealer engraved rear bumper
« on: September 27, 2016, 11:16:24 AM »
I already searched and could not find anything as of yet.

I am wanting to get a dealer engraved rear bumper like the one attached. Has anyone done this or know how to? I currently have a step bumper installed.

Thanks

That style is ok, I'm wanting to get away from that style though. I want the pre-square style specifically.

This style was used quite a bit in the 70's around Texas. Don't know where you'd find one other than a salvage yard or make one.  The dealer name (and manufacturer) is stamped into the bumper face.

do you know if they are a direct bolt on for our trucks and do they fit? or do they need different brackets like the blazer and burbs?

I had some trouble getting the photo to load in reference to my post.

The bumper posted in the photo (and every other one that I've seen that were similar in design) had the brackets integral to the bumper.

The construction of these is pretty simple.  C-channel that is formed to have a dip in the center (license plate and hitch area), a plate welded to the bottom of the C-channel for the hitch, mounting brackets welded to the inside of the C-channel and tread plate across the top with a 90° bend to fill the area below the tailgate.

This is the one I am getting from a friend, I will be cleaning it up and painting it.
