Brakes
« on: October 01, 2007, 05:46:18 AM »
I have a 1987 GMC 1500 2wd. last night i went to go leave my girlfreinds house, i started my truck and and put my foot on the brake to shift into reverse. the brake pedal went all the way down, slowly, to the floor. So she only lives 5 minutes away on a dirt road, so i drove home. when i got home i looked at everything, back brakes front brakes, master cylinder, everything. no leaks. i pumped the brakes a million times, espcially on the way home. there was nothing. but once i got to the floor, it had a little bit of stopping power, but nothing before. i wondering if anyone had a clue to what that might be.
thanks, Kyle

Has anything changed on the brake system recently?  Is the master cylinder filled?  Is there any fluid on the wheels?

Pull the drums off and inspect the shoes, hardware and wheel cylinders 1st.

If the master cylinder is full, front and back, your master cylinder is probably bad.
