(OEM ish) Towing mirrors?
« on: March 07, 2009, 11:21:16 AM »
G'day all,

Does anyone make a telescoping towing mirror for the 73-87's? Something that looks factory, but I can just slide out when I load up the camper?

Got the slide on extensions, but they look horrible, whistle on the highway, and that clip to the arm is always going missing...

Thanks in advance,

Andy

I have seen a mirror head in this style

It had a head and the tube and when towing you just pulled the head outward (telescoping)  I don't remember where I saw it but I saw it a few months ago.

Yup, this is what I'm running into - the local parts stores all remember them - but nobody remembers who made them or where they saw them...

One of my favorite parts guys remembers a powered, heated, turn signaled version that mounts in place of the vent window - looks more like the newish superduty/dodge ones - those would be awesome... if only I could find a pair...

If you can find a set of 93 mirrors from a dually that have a longer leg on them, you can pop the mirror off and take the snap ring off the end and just replace the shorter tubing with the longer tubing.  You just have to be really careful not to break the mirror.
