Headers
« on: June 17, 2014, 12:55:09 PM »
I recently bought a 82 GMC 3/4 ton K2500 it originally had the 6.2 diesel but it got swapped for a 454 my question is when I look for headers ( mine are rusted up with stripped out bolt holes) all the headers for a BBC the years stop at 81 so will they work on my truck? I think it's because the 454 wasn't offered in a 3/4 ton in 82. But just wondering what you guys think I'm thinking about ordering some FlowTech headers.

Short of 1 ton's BBC's were never offered in a 4x4 trucks and that started in 1981.  The biggest motor you could get in a 3/4 was a 400 SBC in 1980 and all after that were 350.

So do you think headers for a 454  1/2 ton 4x4 will work in my 3/4 ton 4x4 with 454?

If someone lists a set for a 1/2T it should fit but again nothing short of a 1981-up 4x4 1 Ton had BBC's from the factory.

I came across a K20 with a BBC the other day, Everything looked stock, it's sitting in a buddy's backyard, so when I'm there next I'll have to check the RPO codes.  It also has the 14bolt FF rear in it.
