cab corner 6x9 speaker brackets
« on: April 15, 2008, 09:23:40 PM »
OK, I finally found time to bend and install the cab corner 6x9 speaker brackets I had made. I also picked up a set of speakers and installed them as well to see how everything fit. With that said, I now feel comfortable selling the extra 10 sets I had made.

These are brand new speaker brackets I created off a set of aftermarket aluminum ones I found in a local salvage yard. I took measurements off of the originals, transferred them to CAD, made some adjustments to get them to fit better, and had them cut out on a CNC plasma cutter. It was more cost effective to have 12 sets made total (instead of just one set for the same price)...thus leaving me extras to offer for sale.

These will fit most 6x9 speakers, however, I found out the hard way they will not accomodate 6x9's with 4" diameter magnets.  With that being said, I assume you could make them work with the use of a small spacer or slight modifying and repositioning of the speaker bracket itself. 6x9's with a 3 1/4" magnet fit absolutely perfect with no modifications needed. These will be delivered bare steel, so you'll need to paint to match your interior or exterior. Basic self-tapping sheet metal screws will be provided. I decided to use stainless steel button head screws and lock nuts when I mounted these in my '73, felt it matched my interior better.

As of right now, all spare 10 sets are still un-bent, but I will be bending all of them Sunday morning (4/20), and will be ready to ship the following week.

Price for a set of these will be $45 plus $10 shipping. I feel this is very comparable to those carped 6x9 boxes...and look 10 times better. This will also cover my initial expense to have these made plus the time I spent getting them to work. I won't be getting rich off these.

If interested, please reply here and send me a PM (private message). This is important, as I have them for sale on a different site as well.  I accept and prefer PAYPAL, but will take money orders or cashiers checks.

I will update the thread with the quanity I have left as sets are sold.

Thanks!
Jeff

i see they are being held up with only one metal tab and screw ...... my question is -

do they move sideways (rock) when pushed fom side to side.......  which may cause this single tab to break-off ?

imo speaker weight will/might  cause this boxes to break(tab)?
THE LOWER I GO,..... THE MORE SHE LIKES IT!

78 big 10.  They should sound the same as the factory 4x10's in metal brackets sound.  I will be adding sound deadening behind my speakers/brackets...which can only help.

Okuma.  They do not rock side to side.  The inside part of the bracket is tight to the rear cab wall, and the outside is tight to the door frame opening.  The bottom is held in place with two screws as well.  I do not believe the tab will break off.

I see next to the purchaser's name it says (67-72) are those the years? If so, do you make the later years?

Looks like I'm the first to respond(sure it won't be too long before the next), but I got my Brackets today 8)

First off, Fast Great Service, and Very Well Packed... Really like the Personalization of giving background as to why the brackets were created.

Second, Very Well Designed, and Constructed from a quality grade of steel...

Final, Definitely can't wait to get them installed, but have to since I'm still trying to get everything together for it, so it's going to be a little while before I can get them installed with pics(Got rust repair to take care of, and also want to have the current Motorola AM/FM/CB Shaft updated)...  When I get more free time, I might just have to clear out behind my seat, and get them atleast fitted so I can coat them ;)

Got my box today, thanks... I will post a picture after I powdercoat them up prior to installation.  I am thinking a black wrinkle finish if the 3 different reds I have in stock aren't close enough to the interior color.  Thanks for the quality product and fast service.
