Title: How long is the driveshaft on a K-20 TH400, NP203, 14 bolt?
Post by: 1976Scottsdale on August 23, 2007, 03:02:23 PM
My 76 K-20 with the 4 speed blew the tranny this morning.  I am going to put my TH400 and NP203 back in since they are new anyway.  I need to know how much to shorten my driveshaft by to make it work.  If anyone knows, please help. ???

Should be about the same. It's the front one you may need to find a replacement for. Your better off ditching the 203 while you at it. Too heavy & full time is never any good for a truck,(poor G.M. idea) especially these days with the gas prices..........P.S. With that 400 you have you could slap a 205 part time on it with a std.trans. rear shaft and it would work.(205 being shorter & 400 being longer).

Yeah, but that costs more money than what I have at the moment.  The adaptor and sleeve alone are about $200.00.  I will just have to measure my distance once I have the 400 in there.  Then I can go to the high school I graduated from last may and shorten it.  The full time part does not bother me as the truck is just going to be for playing and hunting.
