Reliability of the G80 Locker
« on: June 03, 2014, 10:26:07 PM »
I want to hear your thoughts and concerns on the G80 locker. I've been playing around with the idea of putting one in when I swap the gears. I've heard mixed things about it. I guess they call it the GOV-Bomb. The will be used as a recreational/weekend driver, occasional two tracking, and some weekends at Silver Lake Sand Dunes here in Michigan.

Here's my build:
Built up 350 SB appx 340hp
TH350 with shift kit
3.73 Gears with possible G80 Locker
31" Tires

I think for what you listed is OK for that locker.  I have used some similar ones in jeeps for rock crawlers and held up pretty well.  You haven't listed anything too drastic that you plan on doing with your truck.

#2: There is no such thing as impossible, it just takes longer.

As long as you are planning on drag racing it with slicks or 5000 rpm neutral drops daily, you will be fine...

Did you mean aren't CaptKaos? Yeah I don't think I'll be doing anything too drastic. Maybe a burnout or two if I can, and occasional, off roading/ two tracking.

Yellow snow has a GOV lock. It works great for plowing. Never had any complaints with it on pavement or dirt either.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs
