My 82 Scottsdale 3/4 ton....
« on: December 05, 2008, 01:09:41 PM »
Hi, new to this forum.

Bought this truck a couple of weeks ago. It's an 82 Scottsdale 3/4 ton with 350 and TH400 transmission. Totally standard at the moment, still working out what I wanna do to it. Needs to go lower for starters! This is my first truck so any pointers or ideas would be appreciated !  8)

lol thanks,

That rust is just round the propane filler, reckon the aftermarket conversion company didn't do a good job. Got some bubbles round the bottom of the arch trims too but nothing major.

Apologies, by propane I meant LPG - it runs off it! Much cheaper than gasoline atm!

Wouldn't be lowering it too much, maybe changing the tyres would help, want to band the steel wheels too, give them a slightly deep dish yet stock look.

Hey Laderhosen, that's a great find and in great shape too. In that kind of shape you have a pretty good start to any direction you want to go with. As long as you set your goal and stick to it, I'm sure it will turn out fine. Good luck and welcome to the site.

Welcome from the opposite end of the otherside of the Pond ;D  Great Looking Truck! 8)  Curious, what kind of Tank(s) do you have for the LPG, and what conversion has been done under the hood???  Any pics of your Setup???  Sorry for all the questions, just have been thinking about converting my truck or even my car.....

Cheers for the comments guys...  ;D

The truck has one 60 litre (liquid capacity - works out to about 30 litre in LPG - not sure what that is in US gallons....?)  tank in the bed, in front of the right wheel arch. I'll take some pictures . I bought it for a steal, and am still slowly getting to grips and working out how the LPG works, as this is the first vehicle I've ever had with LPG. It's just so cheap to run!

It has a switch on the dash to switch to gasoline, but it's not running on that at the moment, so it's a bit annoying as I only have about an 80 mile range before needing to fill up! I'm not sure exactly what the problem with it is, it's an 82 truck so has a mechanical pump, gonna check the fuel filter and all the basics first. Any suggestions? ??? Wondering if there may be a problem with some of the parts used for the conversion.

Very nice truck, Laderhosen. There are 3.78 U.S. gallons per liter, so that's...WHOA- 226.8 gallons ?!

Think that sounds about right, think it's 3.78 litres per US gallon. So that means my 60 litre tank's just under 16 gallons :-\

Thanks for the comments, only problem with it is when I start it the wipers go 4 times?!?! Then every so often they'll do one sweep, like every half hour of driving or so. Anyone got any ideas?!

I've been told it's a common thing!

Yep, common. The delay controller is bad. The sad news is that these things cost ~$70 (that's usd) here. Lord knows what they'd cost there.
