Turn signal and high beam indicator issues
« on: September 18, 2019, 01:26:40 PM »
I have a 1982 K20 that my son and I are restoring. When I turn on the right turn signal the blinker just stays on steady instead of blinking.

Also when I go from low to high beams the headlights change but the indicator inside doesn't come on.  The gauge cluster has been replaced because the circuit board was bad on the old one.  Thanks for any help.

There are two separate flashers, one is for the turn signals and the other is for the 4-way hazard flashers.  Replace the turn signal flasher.

Use a test light to verify that power is actually reaching the high beam indicator in the instrument cluster and then replace the bad bulb and/or repair the faulty connection between the bulb socket and the PCB.

Make sure both front and rear signal lights are coming on

The mechanical flashes won’t work if a bulb is not working

Also make sure that the cluster ground wire is still connected. Its usually a black wire, and will be either grounded to a post on the brake pedal mechanism, or maybe to a ground bar up under the dash.  When that wire is disconnected you get all kinds of weird instrument panel problems.
