Engine bay help PICS!
« on: September 18, 2013, 07:07:04 AM »
here are the pics, baby bro mechanic sucks and doesnt really have the attention to detail down yet. Everything is running as it should and it all works. Holley Carb, (Comp Vac can installed soon) and I have a 1 belt set up off 1999 Vortec. Smog removd. Please help me out if you can, it looks like crap under here, i have a wiring kit and soldering gun. But there are random wires and Vac hoses left lying around. 1982 C10 383 350Trans
Truck

My engine when i did it personally

Plug hanging on passenger side. 2 black and 1 orange i think?? plus other random snipped wires.

Why is a heater hose looped into my water pump? is this necessary? if so i will get the proper fitting.

red and white wire with 2 prong connection drivers side.

big vac hose and 5 wire connection on drivers side.

3 green wires coming from passenger side. and vac hose. Engine is now black because of the over spray when i asked him to paint firewall thats why.

these 2 weird plugs were behind my brake booster

here go my best guesses, I am sure others will chime in.

Pic 1: "Plug hanging on passenger side. 2 black and 1 orange i think?? plus other random snipped wires."

Blue wire is probably either choke or oil pressure switch, Pink was a "hot" of some sort and plug looks like ESC for distributor, because you still have the vac switch for ESC right above these wires and it's still plugged in

Pic 2: "Why is a heater hose looped into my water pump? is this necessary? if so i will get the proper fitting."

looks like the intake is for some "newer" motor. You should cap it off if you already have both heater hoses.

Pic 3: "red and white wire with 2 prong connection drivers side."

not sure what that is but it looks like for the wiper motor. The green thing is a vacuum check valve.

Pic 4 : "big vac hose and 5 wire connection on drivers side. "

vacuum hose and connector are for the cruise control servo

pic 5 : "3 green wires coming from passenger side. and vac hose. "

that plugs into the trans vacuum switch on the firewall right above the brake booster, you can see it in the pic.

pic 6: "these 2 weird plugs were behind my brake booster"

the white plug is the other end of the plug referenced in pic 5. it plugs into the trans of a 700r4, not sure if you still have the 700r4 in it., the red plug........... no clue what that is.

Thanks alot man. At work now but ill start tinkering as soon as I get home. I thought the wipers were working, but i will check again. The intake is designed for newer style vortec heads. I do not have a 700R4 that was swapped for a 350TH. i DO NOT CARE ABOUT CRUISE CONTROL, SO iS IT SAFE TO JUST(remove) it all? Also I now have an HEI distro and a Manual choke carb.

The ESC can be removed, it plugs into a "computer" under the dash next to the column or it may be behind the glove box. the 700r4 wiring from the white plug to the vacuum switch can be taken out but from there it ties into the brake switch and column. you would need a new brake switch eliminating the cruise part of it. the choke ties into the oil pressure switch but it is just a splice, so you can get rid of the part from the splice at the oil switch that runs to where it is cut.

also going to buy that brake swith.. thanks again.
Ok, my truck is using one belt swapped from 99 GM Vortec. I have different AC compresor, and Alt. I still have the OEM AC lines, and A/C equip because i eventually want A/C. Should I retain all A/C stuff or at this point its worth removing it and rewiring it all when i decide to get it?

I believe you have to get new lines, maybe even custom but just hold on to it all until you actually fix it.

cool, my truck still has the ESC under the dash, the wires are cut at the firewall when the built 350 was put in. I need to get under there and take it out.

my problem is I still have the 700r4 so I can't take out the cruise as it is tied into converter lockup. so until I buy a lockup kit I can't remove my cruise.

Pic 3: "red and white wire with 2 prong connection drivers side."

This is the windshield washer fluid pump wires. The green thing is part of the water filter for the windshield washer supply line. Looks like it is broken as half of the filter is pink, or at least that is the case for a 1985 C10 that I am working on. Hope this helps.

I have the entire chassis harnness out the truck. im cleaning it, and redoing the ends of the connectors. I removed the TSS, Cruise, and the ESC. adding new wrie loom and stuff this week. I want to run a set of aftermarket gauges in the glove compartment. and also keep the factory gauses. for the temp, im thinking I can run a T from the head on the port.
