Clutch
« on: March 01, 2021, 08:33:17 PM »
Hey guys, I've got a 74 chevy k10 with a small block 350 and an sm465. The problem I'm having I believe is in the clutch. When I push the clutch in, no problem, but when I release the clutch it makes a grinding noise. I replaced the clutch and transmission and this is the first time I've started it since I replaced it. Any ideas what it is? Thanks.

Check the oil level in the trans.  Did you replace the pilot bearing and verify that it was the correct one beforehand?  Possibly a bad input shaft bearing(?).  It's tough to "imagine" the noise, let alone the source, without more information.  Post a soundbite.

In other words... if people learn by making mistakes, by now I should know just about everything!!!

I got a pilot bearing with the clutch I bought. Oreilys said it was the right one... I'm having trouble uploading the sound but it almost sounds like a grinding clutch like when you don't push it in all the way and try to shift, but less aggressive.
