The integrated head on the 250 and 292 is reported to have cracking problems, my truck is a 76 with an integrated head on a 250. It had been running 140k miles when owned by my uncle with no issues when I took it out of service.
You can do a head swap with a nonintegrated head from a 194, 230, 250 or 292. The heads are interchangeable with minor spec changes depending on year. If you swap the head you will need an intake manifold, exhaust manifold, possible crab adaptor depending on your current crab and if you have power steering you will have to change out the pump support brackets. The manifolds are also interchangeable on the various heads.
The integrated head is not modifiable and not good for performance.. But for a stock truck it will run fine. I've collected a donor motor with a nonintegrated head to swap on mine must because I have a set of headers I want to run on the 6
