door lock lever?
« on: December 16, 2010, 11:08:10 AM »
When I got my truck, the passenger side door lock didnt work. The key works in the cylinder, but the lever that connects the cylinder to the door lock rod is missing or broken. Where could I get one of those levers and what id it called? Its such an inconvenience not being able to unlock my door from the outside.

The junkyard probably. I got a door rod for my sierra at gm and it was $30 for a coat hanger lol

All normal practicality and rational money handling goes out of the window when it comes to my truck.

You might look around down inside the Door, It may have fallen inside.  I have a Door I got with some parts I bought. It doesn't have a key, I'll check and see it the rod is still there.

I looked around the best I could inside the door. Its not the easiest thing to see inside of. And I felt around, didn't really feel any objects. My mom is probably going to get me a remote entry/alarm kit for christmas, so ill be able to unlock it with a remote soon enough. But, I would like to be able to use a key.

No sir. Manual locks. Manual windows. The kit includes the door lock actuators, reciever, control box, siren, and mounting hardware. I have a set of actuators I installed back in may when my truck was sitting with no engine, but they have gotten too week to move the locks anymore.

I checked the extra door I have, and it didn't have the rod. Get yourself one of those telescoping magnets, and pull your door panel off and probe down in there. Or maybe a Junkyard.

Alright. Thanks for looking. I checked my moms ebay and she bought that keyless entry kit. So, when I pull the panels off to install those I'll look for the lever. Thanks again.

Well, it wasn't my intent to see what she bought me. I went on to check on of the other things I had in my watch list and saw that the door lock kit had been won. Haha. I use her ebay, so I don't have to make my own and what not.

Alright guys! Just finished installing my remote locks! Took me about 3 or 4 hours. PITA! I couldn't get the u bolts to fit and had to spread them open without breaking them. I wired the flashers up to my KC lights! Haha. And I'm going to wire it to the Woooga horn too! Ill take some pics of everything soon.
