87 gas tanks
« on: March 05, 2019, 09:47:43 AM »
Have an 86 I am in the process of restoring. Will be buying new gas tanks for both sides. My question is, will the 86 sending unit work fine and bolt up to an 87 tank? Engine is currently carbed, but may plan on an efi upgrade in the future so don’t want to buy tanks twice. Figure if the 87 tanks will work with my current sending units, then down the road, I can just swap sending units when I go to efi

Should physically bolt in. I put my '87 EFI fuel sending unit/pump into an older tank.

im pretty sure theres an issue with the sending unit hitting the baffle in the efi tank. the older tanks have no baffle and thats why you can put an efi sender in with no issue but then the readings can be effected by the fuel sloshing around but thats the only issue
