Hello!!
I have an 84 C1500 with a 355 and a TH-350 with a 9" tailstock and a stock converter. I am making this truck into a little street/strip project, and a buddy of mine has a freshly rebuilt TH-350 with a shift kit and stall converter in it for DIRT cheap! BUT it has a shorter tailstock!! Am I pooched OR can I just simply swap the tailstocks or am I basically have to completely rebuild the tranny?
Any info or insight would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!
Thank you!

The tailshaft housing correlates to the output shaft length. It would be cheaper to have your driveshaft resized.

i ran into the same issue in my 86. the th350 in it was burnt up it had the 9". my buddy had a 6" so i had to find a new/used driveshaft. ended up finding a 2 piece in a bone yard and use that one

Just change the driveshaft and move the transmission crossmember.
Pretty easy to do.
