6/5 :Walmart Mobil 1 Synthetic, 5 qt jug for $22.95
« on: June 06, 2016, 09:26:36 PM »
6/5:

Not sure if this is Nationwide, but my local W Mart has 5 quart jugs of Mobil 1 Synthetic for $22.95.

Not sure how long this will last either.

i'm afraid only the 15W-50 in mobil1  has the higher zddp levels.

Here is a list of high zddp oil levels:
http://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c3-tech-performance/2484100-list-of-flat-tappet-oils.html

i was using Redline 10W-30 in the 305 and 350.

But with stock type valve spring pressures such as your crate 350, i don't think you have to worry about any of this zddp stuff.  But it's up to you.  And this is just my opinion.   i was using the Redline just to be safe.  Only costed a little more than conventional oil.

i don't have to worry about it anymore because i've joined the 21st century and now have roller lifters.   ;D

Thanks, i dont like full synthetic, so i use valvoline max life 10w30 syn blend. It hs 800 ppm, then i add 4oz of the lucas additive, and that puts me right up there. Entire oil change plus ac delco filter comes to about $24. Lets see Amsoil or Joe Gibbs beat that!! And those royal purple nutheads are way over priced too!!

It's on sale in Kentucky too, I run it in my 2014 mustang so that was a steal. I am an amzoil fan for the c10 I have also run Lucas hot rod oil and both do pretty good but the amzoil seems to stay clean longer even with the same filter.

As of 2/17:

5 quart jug of Mobil 1 advanced full synthetic is $25 at my local WalMart store.  i'm assuming this is nationwide.

5 quart jug of Mobil 1 Extended advanced full synthetic is $28---that's 15,000 miles between changes which i think is a pretty good deal.

Pepboys---5 qts. Mobil 1 synthetic and Mobil 1 filter $32.99
5 qts. Mobil 1 synthetic Extended Performance and Mobil 1 filter $33.99

Other good deals on oil if you're into other brands.

Five quarts Mobil one synthetic STILL on sale for $22.88!!!

This is going on four years now!

i don't particularly like wal-mart, their employee relations aren't known to be very good, and i just don't think walmart is that great of a store.   But i have to give credit to them.

i don't  know how they do it?   Maybe they're selling it at or below cost to get you in there so you can buy all the other junk and that's where they make the huge profit?

5 quarts Mobil one extended synthetic STILL on sale for $24.97.   i didn't go for that because i don't like idea of going 20,000 miles in-between oil changes, but that too is an excellent price.

Note: This is for  the LS engine in the Colorado.   i have exciting things planned for the square soon---just very busy with a lot of BS.

i went to autozone first this morning and they have a promotion of 5 qts jug mobil one synthetic for $32 something AND they throw in an STP brand filter.   i assume STP is a decent filter?

i didn't go for that deal because i wanted a mobil 1 filter.

But this deal may be competitive too.   Just passing that along.

Walmart's prices on Mobile 1 are hard to beat. I've been running extended drains (15k each oil change) on several cars for years using their extended synthetic. I put about 65k on my Geo doing that and the little car runs great still with 180k on it and climbing. I recently switched it over to Amsoil to join the Amsoil extended drains I have been doing since about the year 2000 on most of my vehicles.

I have 40k on my rebuilt Camaro 305. It's running Amsoil and I have NEVER changed the oil on it. I ran a short break in with Valvoline, then put the Amsoil in and havent EVER changed it. I check the oil level every few thousand miles, and every few years throw a new filter on just for the heck of it. I'm hoping it will just blow up so I can put in a 350,  but I'm afraid it's just gonna run forever on that oil. Still runs exactly the same as day I rebuilt it and no sludge buildup.

But for an affordable good oil or extended drain stuff you can easily buy local, you just can't beat the Mobil1 from Walmart.

i'm still queasy about going 15,000, 20,000 between oil changes.   Perhaps i need to do more research, maybe oils have improved to the point where you can in fact go that long?
