1974 C10 350 AC Removal
« on: June 08, 2017, 12:58:27 AM »
The AC in my C10 wasn't working when I bought the truck and the heater core was leaking. Decided to take out AC. The alternator and AC Compressor are on the passenger side. If I take out the compressor, should I leave the alternator where it is, or move it to drivers side where I see other C10's have their alternators? Also, I'll need a new shorter belt. Anyone know what length to buy? I bought the AC delete box to permit use of the heater witout the big bulky condensor and its box. Just now putting it back together. Not looking forward to putting the new heater cor and interior back together.

You'd need to post pics because what you describe doesn't sound factory.

I could leave the compressor. I can hear some noise from the area and can't tell if its the compressor or alternator. Also, I'm sure it takes away a little power. I'll probably leave it for now, lots of other stuff to do.
