73-87 Stepside Rear Bumper Brackets?
« on: March 24, 2017, 12:35:38 PM »
I am sure there has probably already been a feed on here about this but I am at a loss as to what to do for my '74 stepside rebuild as I cannot find rear bumper brackets anywhere...WIDE open to suggestions as to where to find them or how to modify another set to work.

Much appreciated

Well, I'll add what I can.

I've got a '87 K10 short fleet and a '85 K10 short step side. The '87 I just purchased reproduction sport bumper brackets for it and they are mounted to the truck with a shiny new bumper attached to it, the '85 I had it's original sport bumper brackets sitting unbolted in it's bed.

They are different, it looks like the step side bumper is pulled in about 3" closer to the frame than the other ones going by the inside mounting brackets. The outside brackets may work, depends where the mounting hole is on the bumper.

It doesn't look like the filler panel for the step side will work on the fleet side either.
This was a 10 minute observation in the garage, your '74 may take different brackets all together.
