So I can't find a new gauge housing so I am looking for a used gauge housing for my 1974 Chevy Stepside...c10.  What years can I use?

Thanks for your reply,

It would be easier to just find a used cluster and take the parts you need. Gauges and idiot lights are different housings.

Thanks for that.  I guess I wasn't clear.  The housing is falling apart.  Been in and out too many times over the years.  What years' housings would be suitable?  I am thinking maybe 73 and 74 is all from what I can decipher from parts catalogs?  Anybody??

think the main thing is the oil pressure but im not sure everything else should be able to be worked with

Do you have a mechanical oil pressure gauge or do you have idiot lights?

Is the oil gauge electric or does it have a tiny tube running to the engine ?
And what exactly is wrong with the housing ?
Broken / cracked ?

Mounting tabs broken off ?

Looks like it has the tube for oil pressure.  Wondered what that tube was for!!  Broken cracked plastic and mounting tabs broken off.   Sorry for the late reply.  We had some terrible winds last month and I am still trimming dead branches out of the trees...

Is it damage that's visible with all the trim installed ?

If not i wouldn't worry about it

73 - 75 have the amp gauge verses volt gauge. They don't interchange without wiring mods.

Some can have the clock vs  a brake light, not to mention the tach versions.
They come up on Ebay time  to time, be prepared to pay and keep an eye out.

So mine has the voltmeter.  Obviously not "unmolested".  Not sure what year gauge housing it would be then....I got one used from a 73 with a clock in it.  I changed the meter out and made a new hole so the printed circuit would match up.  Using parts from both I now have a frankengauge housing.  That explains why brake warning lights don't work.  Not sure I want to tackle that one.  Also the fasten seat belts warning is not working.  Looks like it wasn't on the 73 model.  Thinking maybe the advice to leave it alone if it doesn't show may be the best idea so far!!

Thanks much
Ricky

My 74 does not have the seatbelt warning either.
