Paint job question

Found all I need at a local pick an pull, basicly just a hood, grille and latch support. I am going to take care swapping out the condenser,grille and hardware.
 Orig. GM hood, is very clean. It will need prepped and painted. A local gave me a price of 400. He is going to purchase paint an materials and help with the swapping of the hood. I thought this to be a little on the high side........Any opinions on price or is he in the ballpark......

OH! .....ok.......come to think about it, it has been over 25 yrs. since I bought paint. Thinking I painted the whole truck for less then 200. Done the work myself back then.     thx... for bringing me up to date,
