1979 GMC Sierra Grande build

Hey everyone I'm a newbie to posting a build thread. I have been keeping up with this page for the last few years just reading and learning. I got out of the Navy last year and finally began my builds. This one is a funny story because I went out and bought this truck for $400 to use as a cab and bed donor for my 76 K20. I brought the truck home and when I got to looking at it the truck was in surprisingly great condition for a $400 C1500. I hope y'all enjoy this thread and can help me along the way. I look forward to learning more from y'all.

Nice score for $400. I had a 76 GMC High Sierra C15 handed to me. It's an auto body nightmare, not sure if it's worth restoring. Too many miles I am sure. It's easy, cheap to fix and service lol. When I swapped a steering knuckle the ball joint just fell out of the lower control arm, put a new one in to hold it for now but I need to find out how they are held in. There is no taper, rivets, bolts, snap right or nothing so maybe it is just the weight of the vehicle that pull the lip against the control arm? I need to get an alignment done now so maybe the people at the shop will know how they are attached.

I have a question guys I'm in the process of switching out the intake manifold and I really have no clue what I need to keep off of the old one to put on the new one. I would like to get rid of the EGR stuff but I can't find any info on it.

What intake are you removing and what intake are you installing? Is it a non-EGR Intake?
