1980 C10 Pro Street 383 build.
« on: May 01, 2017, 04:28:58 PM »
Hey guys and gals. Just wanted to start a build thread for my 1980 short bed. So here is the history.

The truck is a 1980 Short bed Silverado 2WD that I bought from my Father in-law. The truck had been stored in is shop for the past 10 years. It has 80,000 miles and was pretty much bone stock minus the .243 bullet hole in the floor. It still has the functional 8-track player.

So far I have pulled out the blown 305 and installed the motor I originally built for my 69 C10. I do need some help with the motor but ill get that in a later post.

Here is the stats so far.

SBC 383
BORE: 4.030
STROKE: 3.750
DECK HEIGHT: .025
CYLINDER HEAD VOLUME: 72CC
HEADS: 190CC RUNNERS
HEAD MATERIAL: ALUMINUM
GASKET THICKNESS: .032
COMPRESSION RATIO: 10.03:1

TRANS:TH350C
CONVERTER:3000 STALL
HEADERS: 1 5/8 LONG TUBE
EXAHUST: 3" WITH X-PIPE
MUFFLERS: 3" BORLA OFFSET/OFFSET
GEARS: 3.08:1 (I think)

My to do list as of today
My plans as of right now....

Weld S71-B wheels 15x6 Front 15x 12 rear

Detroit truetrac
3.73:1 Gears

Change to a smoother idle cam. (maybe)
Replace the front windshield.
Change to blue and white paint scheme.

Here is my 69 going to a new home.

Day I brought it home.

Old 305.

Nice sounding engine.....how are you handling the "lack of brakes" issue now that you have low vacuum?  I have a radical cam in my truck and get one good press of the brake petal.  Gets kinda scary with a 6in lift and 35's.  I took a hydraboost system out of a diesel truck but haven't hooked it up yet.

It must be sad seeing the '69 go!

I'm doing a fully body-off resto on my 69' k20 step side, and turning it into my daily driver.
