nice chop?

Normally, i don't care about bodywork, but i happened upon this truck randomly the other day.

The roof appears to be chopped and if so, i like the lines of it.

i didn't have time to take more pics, but it's definitely a flatbed conversion and done really nicely---all wood and diamondplate etc.

I prefer function over form, so lowered trucks don't appeal to me at all. Having a flat-bed is useless with those honkin' fenders in the way, and the lower the roof, the smaller the hat I have to wear.

It looks like a lot of care and obsession went into the truck so I have to respect that. And it's not a dodge, so there's that.

I'm with srozell here, it looks stupid, functionally it won't do much cuz of the honkin fenders and the spare poking up towards the sky. I'm 6 foot 4 so a chopped roof is counter productive to me.

The rear of the cab looks a bit off, but as for a chop it's not bad, could see it with a stepside bed and blower sticking through the hood. But I have to agree with the others, I wouldn't want a chopped top, it's extremely difficult to make it look right, it cuts your headroom down, and makes replacing windows, doors, interior trim, etc. a nightmare.

truth is, to each their own. i dont like it but i cant really say its a bad thing. just like my crew cab cummins, to me its baddass but to my father inlaw he hates it cause he cant stand the smell of diesel. none the less he knows that i built it and im happy with it, the mother inlaw on the other hand..... lol nm.

but it the cab itself looks good as far as quality goes and is in much better shape than my truck

But the best ones are where you can't tell its chopped but something just looks different

at 6'3" for me this would be a frame and front clip, i won't fit ergo for me it's ruined despite the obvious work put in

Ok, as an update i want to say that i posted the original and newer pics because it appeared to me that the truck was chopped and if so, then i like the lines of it.

i would not chop a roof myself, because it's too much work for almost no practical benefit.   But if someone was going to chop, then i like the lines of this one.

Now, if we look at the pic of the flatbed, the second of the new pics, you may notice that it appears that the cab was cut and re-welded where the "dimples" are?    Another thing to notice is that on a stock truck the bottom of the rear window is HIGHER than the bottom of the side windows.  But here, they are even with each other.   

Was the cab chopped in the middle of the cab, rather than at the roof?   And the roof itself was not altered?
