Front Quad shock question
« on: June 18, 2017, 11:36:53 PM »
Hey Guys, so my 84 K2500 rides awful. Truck is stock, with no lift/oversized tires.  Truck is used strickly on road and when hitting bumps it really bounces all over.  Anyways I'm going to start by changing the shocks. My question is do I retain the 4 shocks up front or convert it to only 2?  Speaking of, how is that conversion done?
I don't expect this truck to ride like my K5 with billstiens  but it's got to get better then it is now.

Thanks.

I see no need for quad shocks personally.

Quad shocks definitely help improve the ride. Removing them will not make it less bouncy.

If you are bouncing all over the road you should be checking the entire steering and suspension system over as well.

I should be more specific.  When hitting bumps like a washboard (little ones one after another) it gets pretty bad.  It's not what some call a death rattle (been there done that on Super Dutys.

Steering/Suspension is tight otherwise.

Dual shocks on the front are not necessary.

They are valved different than a single shock setup. A single shock is just as effective.

Problem comes when the dual shocks are not replaced with the correct shocks and the ride becomes rough due to valving.

If your not wandering and chasing the steering wheel then  your shocks are just worn out just like any other vehicle.

The duals are already there so the choice is yours. Just get the right ones for the dual setup.

They do look cool, other than that......

The ? Was are they needed. No, but there already there.

I run 35's with procomp 3000 single shocks on my 74 K5 with no issues with

Bilsteins will be my next shocks.
