My 82 C10
« on: August 10, 2017, 02:13:39 PM »
Hey folks, figured I might as well start a post for my truck. It's an 82 C10, that I bought from a buddy who owns a towing company. It's a 4 speed (granny low), and a 307 from an early 70's truck. I've had a pile of these square bodies, but this by far is my favorite.

My plans are to turn it into a short bed, and I would like to find a 454 to drop in, maybe keep it a 4 speed. Paint will be the same scheme, pretty sure the blue/silver two tone is factory.

When I got the truck, it would fire up, but run like complete garbage. A buddy came over one night, we timed it, figured out the running issue was the carb, and water in the gas tank. So I bought a nice new edelbrock 600, dropped the tank, cleaned it, and the truck now runs amazing. It has a factory spread bore 4 barrel intake with an adapter, which I'm swapping out for an Edelbrock perfomer square bore I bought from Summit.

I only have a few pictures right now, but as I make more progress I will post more!

Was out cruising around today, noticed it seems to go through some oil. When I first got it on the road a few weeks ago it would smoke when you got on the throttle. Pretty sure the oil rings must have been plugged up from sitting. Got home, and had to snap a picture.

Good looking truck. I would seriously consider something like a NV3500, might be a little weak behind a 454, but it is a much smoother shifting transmission, Plus you get overdrive which would be nice for fuel economy on a 454 (even a small increase is nice)
