Outside door handle-76 C20

Hi:
Is the factory outside door handle for my 76 C20 Custom Deluxe supposed to have a black insert (or black paint) in the horizontal groove...or not? I notice the chrome fender trim pieces have a black insert in them and was wondering if the door handle was same.
