Limited choices for manifold back exhaust systems
« on: August 18, 2017, 01:26:32 AM »
I have a 76 GMC K25 350 4x4. Only 2 reasonable priced are Flowtech & Hooker 2 1/4" systems. More people complained about fitment issues with Flowtech. I'm planning to give the Hooker system a shot and have a muffler shop take over if I get stuck on the install. I have a pair of flowmaster mufflers collecting dust in my garage but have 2 1/2 inlet/outlet. Anyone figure out a good exhaust system for these trucks with less headaches?

Thx
Ale

I put a Dynomax exhaust kit on my '73 K2500. It took a lot of trial and error with that kit too.

A thread with photos of the Dynomax kit that I posted from 2011: http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/smforum/index.php?topic=22068.msg182184#msg182184

I have found a setup that works. First you will need headers and they have to be mid-length so they won't hit the ground. Go to headman.com and go to headers, when the page comes up scroll down till you see an icon for c-10/20 and just click on it and go from there. If you don't see what you need just give them a call for help. Just let them know what you plan is and they can help. Just let them know that they have to be mid-length cause full-length headers can hit the ground and you don't want that. You will have 2 choices, painted which you will have to paint them cause the coating that comes on them is just for shipping. Make sure it is high temp paint, if not it will just burn off. Next is the pipes. There are a few kits from hooker that I found on jegs that come in aluminized or stainless steel which is very expensive. There are 2 different sizes 2.5" or 3". Hope this helps
